Farewell, my reliable companion
For 14 years and 190 000 kilometers we've traveled together. During all these years You never let me down, never made me walk. You'd always start up obediently, asking "Where to, Bwana?". You even excelled my previous vehicle, BX 16 RS Break who was also a durable friend.
You took me places your creators never intended You to go (Hammerfest, Skoghall, Lappeenranta to name a few) and always took us both back. Ill-conditioned forest roads, steep hills and flooded passages were no game-stopper for You. Your hydropneumatic suspension caressed my gluteus maximus as only a real Citroen can. After using rental cars at business trips I always enjoyed leaving garage with You, and You rewarded my gratitude by starting up as "palmun alta", with no sign of jealousy for me using other vehicles.
You made me smile the day I took You to repair shop and told them to fix everything that needs fixing. As I was picking You up, the exhausted mechanic went through the list of operations performed - about 4 pages - and calculated the sum, then cursed "eikö tästä ny perkele tän enempää tuu?"
You never were a heavy drinker : your gas consumption was on par with specifications and You consumed no engine oil, coolant or hydraulic fluid at all.
Only when I brought the C5 Tourer home You displayed Your female gender. For one week You watched me leaving with her daily, leaving You standing outside. Then as I sat down on Your seat one more time to start You up to see if Your battery is still OK, You declined to rise to driving position and burst Your rear hydraulic pipe! "So... after all these years You dump me for younger one with big bumpers and huge rear end?"
Or maybe You thought : "Now Bwana has a successor for me : one worth of my legacy" and let go, after total of 22 years and 350 000 kilometers?
I like to think that's how You felt!
I could fix Your pipe and park You somewhere in my yard to wait You to turn museum-age of 30 years. But that would not be a respectable destiny for You, You were built to run! So now it's time for us to part.
Let there be endless challenging, bumpy roads for You tor tackle with Your unbeatable suspension in Heaven of Cars. And if we should meet again, You being in form of a recycled steel spoon, plastic 3D-printed object, or rubber object of any kind, let me know it's You

Merci, mon ami!
Ceci n'est pas une voiture, c'est un art de vivre!
